The Game of Graces was a popular pastime for young girls in the early 1800s. First created in France in the early 19th century as le jeu des Graces, the game was designed to encourage poise and gentle movement. Traditionally viewed as a “proper” activity for young ladies, it was most often played by two girls or a girl and a boy, but rarely by boys alone.
